In the next two years, the state Land Department plans to auction properties totaling roughly 2,700 acres for tens of millions of dollars in north Scottsdale and in northeast Phoenix.Much of it will go to developers, but Scottsdale could make a play for one 1,700-acre clump of land within the boundaries of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
